The Horizon Study
A William-Lynn-James Horizon Study first identifies major trends that will shape the future of the larger society. These may be economic, technological, regulatory, or demographic in nature. However, they are always selected for their particular relevance to the client's concerns and circumstances. These trends are then analyzed to determine the critical challenges and opportunities they present. The client's key policy choices, strategic decisions, and action initiatives are identified in this context, and the likely alternative outcomes are presented. The Firm's look at the Horizon is not a "forecast," but rather a survey of alternative outcomes that are possible, given careful planning combined with insightful leadership.
The Horizon Study is often used as a forerunner to qualify certain key economic issues before a detailed program of market or issue analysis is constructed. The study also can be used as a consensus-building tool to create widespread support for a proposal that identifies a set of policies or actions intended to enhance client outcomes.
The Horizon Study is designed to identify key decisions or actions that can influence the client's future. A Horizon Study is the beginning of a working partnership in which the client and William-Lynn-James strive together to create a program of information gathering and analysis that will enable the client to shape his or her own future more successfully.
